Burgers with Avocado and Prosciutto

July 4, 2012

Happy Fourth of July, ya’ll!

This year we celebrated with a mini-BBQ. Including our friend, Dylan, there were just three of us. But holy moly, we had a spread—grilled potato salad, corn on the cob, watermelon, chips and beer.

Oh, and these burgers!

The burger itself is a simple mix of lean ground beef, salt, pepper and minced garlic.

A classic, really.

Here’s the shake up. For the burger toppings, we decided on sharp cheddar cheese, thinly sliced prosciutto and creamy avocado.

They were good. Really good.

Burgers with Avocado and Prosciutto

1 1/2 lbs of lean ground beef

2 garlic cloves, minced

Salt and freshly ground pepper

Sharp cheddar cheese, sliced

Prosciutto, thinly sliced

Avocado, sliced

Begin by gently mixing the ground beef, garlic, salt and pepper together. Form the combined meat into four patties. Grill until burgers reach desired doneness.

Assemble your burger. I like a little mayo on the bottom bun, burger, cheese, prosciutto, avocado and top bun. But you can arrange it however your heart decides—no matter what, it’ll be delicious.
