When Mollie came to visit, she was very adamant that she wanted to make Rice Crispy Treats. I’m not about to let down someone who’s in the process growing my niece. So, it was a clear and easy decision.
To make things even better, I had been seeing Cake Batter Rice Crispy Treats everywhere and had wanted to try out the recipe. Mollie concurred on the awesomeness of this plan. I now had the perfect opportunity/excuse to make a fantastically sweet treat.
Really, the recipe does not differ too much from the original. They are a touch sweeter and there is a hint of cake battery goodness. But it’s not overwhelmingly so. Truthfully, I was happiest with the cute sprinkles.
Cake Batter Rice Crispy Treats
3 tablespoons butter
1 (10 ounce) bag of mini-marshmallows
1/3 cup yellow cake mix (just the mix with nothing added)
6 cups rice crispies cereal
Sprinkles
Melt butter in a large saucepan and add marshmallows. Stir until they begin to melt and begin adding cake mix one teaspoon at a time. Be sure to fully incorporate each bit of cake mix before adding more. Stir in the cereal, coating with the marshmallow mixture. Add some sprinkles. Press into a baking dish coated and top with additional sprinkles.
Tip: Spray your knife with nonstick spray for easier cutting.
